MISSION STATEMENT
Community Baptist is a small, welcoming & inclusive congregation within the American Baptist tradition.
Through worship and friendship, study and service, we try to live out the teachings of Jesus and the prophetic witness of the Bible.
Our purpose is to demonstrate God’s extravagant love and to work alongside other faiths and traditions to achieve God’s vision of a peaceable and just world for all people and all creation.
Do you know what I want? I want justice—oceans of it. I want fairness—rivers of it. That’s what I want. That’s all I want.”
Amos 5: 24, The Message
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Faithful to the Protestant tradition & our Baptist roots, Community Baptist affirms the following teachings:
The whole cosmos is infused with God’s loving presence.
God’s passionate care for all people and all creation is revealed in Scripture, through the person and work of Jesus, and by the activity of God’s Spirit in our world.
We believe that Jesus calls all people to love and serve God, and their neighbor. His radical love includes nurturing our own selves and protecting our planet.
As Baptists we uphold the principle of “soul liberty”.
We respect each person’s journey towards the Holy.
Our role is that of companions on the road of – or to – faith.
